Coldstream Canyon harbors some of the most impressive ice formations in the Tahoe area.

There are at least 6 independent lines that form on two steep cliffs at the head of the canyon, ranging from 50-70 meters and WI 3-5.

This ice is not easy to get to with most approaches being 4-5 miles long.

Snow mobilers are able to cruise right up to the base of the climbs.

Great source of info. The coordinates are in a form that isn't very usable for Google Maps. I have converted them to something more usable, but these coordinates have not been field checked. Let me know if they seem to be in the right place. +39° 16' 41.00", -120° 17' 52.00" I presume you can hike down the old rr grade through the tunnel. Do you need headlamps for this? Are there issues with landowners if you drive up Cold Springs Canyon? Can you climb here all winter?

thank you for posting!
@Recce80 Wow - the first comment for this video - only 1.5 years after posting it! Thanks, that was fun but a very long hike to get to the ice.
