Much of the art of the Northwest, particularly that emanating from the Puget Sound area reflects a unique set of recurring influences. Focusing on the work of painters Mark Tobey, Morris Graves, Margaret Tomkins, Guy Anderson, Paul Horiuchi, Helmi Junoven and George Tsutakawa, Seattle filmmaker Ken Levine has fashioned an historically informative yet contemporary documentary which examines the regional characteristics of Northwest art from the 1930's on. Editing together statements from artists, patrons, articulate members of the arts community with historic footage, and rare photographs, Northwest Visionaries offers a personal account of evolution of artists and their environment.
