On October 16, 2010 I was in Taiji with Greg Hauswirth to document events at The Cove. Greg and I are both volunteers for Save Japan Dolphins. This is footage we collected from that day as the fishermen drove eight Risso's dolphins into The Cove and slaughtered them. Guest appearance by the infamous Private Space, who as it turns out, has a nickname for us as well.
There are many recorded incidents throughout history of dolphins saving human lives - is this is how we repay them? Dolphins are intelligent, friendly, and self aware creatures with complex social structures and languages. They do not belong in aquariums. If you go to dolphin shows you are supporting the slaughter of thousands of innocent wild dolphins. (Watch The Cove to better understand the undeniable connection between the dolphin slaughter and the captivity industry). Dolphins are not ours to kill, eat, or kidnap from their families so we can make them do tricks for food. Dolphins belong in the ocean. Let them be.
