This is a story that will MELT YOUR HEART.
5-year-old Oliver was diagnosed with a brain tumor. On January 31, 2014 Oliver was scheduled to have his tumor removed by doctors at The Nebraska Medical Center.
However, due to his neurological status, Oliver was very unsteady on his feet and required 1 to 2 people to help him walk.

Thanks to a donation from an Omaha family, Oliver was able to "drive" to the operating room in a battery-operated car.
The car was donated by Blake's family. Blake was a long time patient at the med center, who passed away in the summer of 2013. Blake never got to ride in the car, so his family donated it to the hospital's pediatric unit this past Christmas.

As you can see from the video, Oliver LOVED the chance to take control - and drive to the operating room. This is another example of #SeriousMedicine and #ExtraordinaryCare... not just from our staff... but our patients too!
