The Winter 2012 Contra Costa Performing Arts Society (CCPAS) Student Concert was held on Sunday, February 12, 2012 at Grace Presbyterian Church in Walnut Creek, CA. Twenty-three talented young musicians performed classical works for piano, flute, violin, and harp. At the end of the concert the CCPAS Student Chapter Council discussed the many benefits of membership and invited all interested middle school and high school music students to participate.
The following music studios were represented: Katharine Austin, Virginia Bigelow, Machiko Kobialka, Sharon Linton, Hye Yeong Min, Debbie Murray, Annie Nalezny, Yasushi Ogura, Alanna Rantala, Jessica Siegel, Maria Tamburrino, and William Wellborn. The CCPAS Student Advisor is Hye Yeong Min. The CCPAS President is Diane Barton-Brown.
Founded in 1974, CCPAS is a regional nonprofit tax-exempt organization whose mission is to promote the performing arts among its members and in the community at large. The CCPAS Student Chapter was founded in 2011 by students for students, and is run entirely by students with the support and guidance of CCPAS. Student Chapter membership opens opportunities for public performance, special student workshops, general CCPAS workshops, educational programs, concerts, community service, fun social events, and many other activities. As a bonus, participation fees are waived for certain concerts and events.
