Actor Brian Williams, who plays Dr. Young on our award-winning bleeding disorders web series, Stop the Bleeding! takes you on an informative guided tour of a Hemophilia Treatment Center, or "HTC" and who you will meet there, starting with:

Nurse: You will typically work with her even more than your doctor. The nurse will also work with your hematologist. Their work is very hands-on, such as taking vitals, asking questions and providing a bunch of answers to your questions. She synthesizes all of this information, as well as test results, and presents it to the hematologist.

Social Worker: This person is here to help you with all of the day-to-day challenges of living with a bleeding disorder. They help you and your family understand and manage insurance, transportation challenges, housing issues.

Physical Therapist: They specialize in the physical side of having a bleeding disorder. They work with patients on creating activity or exercise plans, and when needed, they also work with them on rehabilitation for injuries, or target joint issues.

Comprehensive Care Model: When practiced at HTCs, this kind of practice treats the emotional, physical, medical, financial and vocational challenges associated with having a rare and chronic disease.
