One militant is dead in India's northern Jammu and Kashmir state after a clash with the Indian Army on Tuesday.

[Major General Om Prakash, 25th Infantry Division, Rajouri]:
"We witnessed some [militant] activity near the Kerni sector in the Rajouri district. Our officers followed it swiftly and started firing. One of the terrorists was killed on the spot and we fired on rest of them, but since the visibility level is low and because of dense forest and foliage in the region, we covered the whole area. A search operation is still going on."

During the encounter, militants and the Indian Army fired heavily on each other.

[Major General Om Prakash, 25th Infantry Division, Rajouri]:
"We have continued the search until the morning. This encounter is a major success for the Army and security personnel. We have blown up their attempt of infiltration."

Army personnel seized five grenades, an AK 56 rifle, five magazines, three barbed wire pliers and medicine.
