With Jayne filming me as I talk to the camera - I'm hardly inconspicuous as I shoot candid photos of people on the market. This is the bit most photographers new to the genre often find hardest so in this video I'm going to show you how I go about it.

When shooting candid street photography I suggest taking a friend along. It's great to have someone to hold a spare camera body or lens - but you might find having someone with you builds your confidence. Occasionally I've had people come and ask what I'm photographing or why I'm photographing them - but not in a threatening way. Just be honest and up front about what you're doing, and send them some photos maybe.

A buddy can also be handy in helping you achieve some great people pics - check out the video and see what I mean.

Light is as important as ever so keep your eyes peeled for places where there's some good light for people photography - then wait for something to happen in it. If you need help with finding good light we've got loads of free lighting tutorials - suggest you begin with http://www.photographycourses.biz/goo...

I think photographing people unawares is an integral part of street photography. If you're into people watching it's probably the ultimate.
