Present in Switzerland (Ticino) since 2004, flavescence dorée (grapevine yellows) is the worst of the known vine diseases in Europe to date. In 2015 two disease loci were identified in the Lake Geneva area (Lavaux). A preventive and coordinated monitoring approach is essential to stop the spread of this disease, whose containment is only possible through control of the vector, the leafhopper Scaphoideus titanus.
