The poem is an irresistible coming of age story told by a parent and child (who both happen to be birds - "leaving the nest..."). I wrote the music and added the English bits as well as re-arranged some of the original poem.

Mon Petit Oiseau Sauvage
(Based on the poem by Louisa Paulin)

They might take you away little bird
Oohh, they might take you away.
--Father my father what a beautiful world,
--I'll be alright

They might take you away little bird
Oohh, they might take you away
--Father my father what a beautiful world,
--You must worry less.

I know I must let you go.
--Père, mon père, je vole près d'ici.
I know I've not always shown you so.
I love you more than you could ever know........
Child, my child, I'm afraid to let you go.
