Woburn CI, home of the first Canadian FRC team (FRC188) makes a return to Atlanta. Woburn CI fielded 7 FTC teams at the Ontario FTC Championships, with one of their squads winning the tournament - FTC189: Blizzard B.
"The Force from the North" is sending an FTC-only skeleton crew to pilot Blizzard B in Atlanta, where Woburn has not made an appearance since 2004.
Blizzard B is not your typical FTC robot. It scores points in bunches, but not like most high-scoring FTC Quad Quandary robots do.
Blizzard B permanently captures and possesses a single goal in autonomous mode. For the remainder of the match, Blizzard B picks up and scores rings on the possessed goal as it drives around the field, with the goal in tow.
Blizzard B is a particularly good compliment for high-post scoring robots. In very competitive matches, where the high posts fill up quickly, alliances will tip the balance with defense, goal possession at the end of the match, and supporting single goal scoring.
In the eliminations at the Ontario FTC Champsionship, Blizzard B demonstrated the ability to play defense on the opposing high-post scorer, while still scoring rings on the goal in tow. The end match play is bolstered by a guaranteed single goal in tow, with the ability to push another at the same time.
Good luck in Atlanta!
