PLEASE READ THE VIDEO DESCRIPTION.
Super Mario RPG Armageddon is a fanmade hack of Super Mario RPG, by Dark Kefka. Its goal is to make the game more challenging and giving even veterans of the game a run for their money. Not only do monsters get a stat overhaul, but they also get completely new attacks. Additionally, there are countless several difference here and there. Weaponry, magic, items... everything has changed. I will provide a link at the end of the video description.
The game starts off a bit on the easy side (despite still being quite a bit harder than the original game), but becomes a lot more difficult as the game progresses. This video covers the "intro" of the game, in Bowser's Castle.
If you aren't one of my followers, I'll let you know that I don't do any commentary. I know that in an RPG, commentary makes the trip a lot more interesting, but trust me, it would be worse in my case. Also, if you have never played Mario RPG, I suggest you don't watch it. Just play the game! ^_^ Still, I won't skip through text too quickly, and I'll keep the story intact by letting the text readable. However, as I know the game rather well, I won't talk to all NPCs and stuff like that.
Note : It's kind of a blind playthrough to an extent. I played up to Kero Sewers already, and then decided to start a new game due to an accidental issue with the hack (that Dark Kefka will correct soon) which made an enemy give 200 experience instead of 20 and overlevelled me. When I started the new game, I decided to make it a playthrough for YouTube while at it (which wasn't my initial idea). But once I reach Kero Sewers, everything that follows is new to me in the hack.
Okay, on to the video itself. Everything begins as usual. Peach is kidnapped, and Mario goes to rescue her. In Bowser's Castle, the Terrapins have two new attacks : some sort of stick attack, and a tackle. It kind of hurts, and killing them in one hit requires precise timing with the timed hit. Better avoid them all (except the forced battle) as HP isn't recovered between battles. However, I accidentally touched one of the non-mandatory Terrapins, so I had to do an extra battle.
Fortunately, HP and FP is automatically restored before fighting Bowser. The goal is to attack the chain suspending the chandelier Bowser is standing on. Normally, in the original game, you can attack it directly. In this hack, you cannot until Peach tells you to. It takes five commands before she tells you (which I found out through three game overs x_x), so defending is the best option at the beginning.
Once you can attack the chain, a few Jumps is all that's needed to bring it down and win the battle. It's kind of a close call because of Bowser's new, more powerful attacks. The rest of the video is just story sequences.
P.S. : The sound effect is off in Mario's Pad. It's weird. In the emulator, it sounded just fine, so it's either a recording issue related to my recorder (Camtasia), or a conversion issue (related to YouTube). Try not to pay too much attention to it.
