How to make a line bending machine

A line bender is a useful addition to any workshop where acrylic is being used to fabricate components. Line bending machines are not cheap but in this tutorial we are going to make a DIY line bender. To make the line bender you will need some suitable sheet material such as ½ inch thick plywood or similar.

You will need the following to complete this project
1. Nichrome wire (26g)
2. 12mm * 12mm Aluminium channel 600mm in length
3. Two suitable hinges
4. Various screws
5. ½ inch plywood cut into three pieces. 1@ 800mm*300mm 2@600mm*150mm
6. Bench power supply unit with minimum output of 30v 5 amps
7. A suitable expansion spring
