This song was written for the Gulabi Gang in India. A Group of Corageuos woman who are changing the way things work! Please Share, and help raise awareness for thier cause!

This is a song Wildflowers wrote to help support the Gulabi Gang in North India. I (Siddy Bennett) read an article in Grazia Magazine about a year ago, and loved it so much I stuck it on my wall. The more research I did into this movement, the more they inspired me, so I decided to write a song for them.

There has been a lot of press recently about the Delhi Rape Case, but for over a year I have been aware of this incredible female vigilante gang who answer cries of help and attack the attacker with bamboo sticks if they don't stop abusing their victims. (I like their style).

The Delhi rape case is just the tip of the iceberg. Over 70% of women in India are abused! I love Sampat's attitude, of going against the system, and doing as she wishes, some things should not be left to the law, because the government is too corrupt. Violence Against Women has to stop! These women are so beautiful and courageous, and deserve the same freedom as a man! I hope one day I can raise enough money to go out and meet Sampat Pal Devi (the gangs leader) and make a music video with them marching behind with their sticks.

They originate from the Banda District of Uttar Pradesh. This region is one of the poorest districts in the country and is marked by a deeply patriarchal culture, rigid caste divisions, female illiteracy, domestic violence, child labour, child marraiges and dowry demands. The women's group is popularly known as Gulabi or 'Pink' Gang because the members wear bright pink saris and wield bamboo sticks. Sampat says, "We are not a gang in the usual sense of the term, we are a gang for justice."

The Lyrics to our song are

He has left me
broken and blue
No word or promise
Not one word of truth
He has taken
Every inch of me
Wish I was I was mistaken
But he's left his mark for the world to see

And nothings going to change the way
Nothings going to change way
Nothings going to change the way I'm feeling now

And if he's coming back my way?
If he's coming back my way
If he's coming back my way
I'm going to kick him down

Down down where the flowers don't grow
What you gonna do now your down?
I'm kicking you out
Coz you lose control
I cant have you
I wont have you around

He, he has burned up all my energy
I sit here an empty shell
I'm nothing to what I used to be

And nothings going to change the way
Nothings going to change way
Nothings going to change the way
I'm feeling now

And if he's coming back my way?
If he's coming back my way
If he's coming back my way
I'm going to kick him down

Down down where the flowers don't grow
What you gonna do now your down
I'm kicking you out
Coz you lose control
I cant have you
I wont have you around
Down Down Where the flowers grow slow,
I'll watch you while their putting you down
and locking you up
Coz you lost control
Cant have you, Dont want you around!

Thought it was strange that you wanted me
Thought yourself big bad and strong
But liars have played with fire
And now gone gone gone

Down down where the flowers don't grow
What you gonna do now your down
I'm kicking you out
Coz you lose control
I cant have you
I wont have you around
