You dont stop laughing because you grow old, you grow old because you stopped laughing.
Seemingly used up AA alkaline, car, and wheelchair batteries can still be revived for less than 1/10 of buying new ones. Two magazines picked me as one of the top ten green inventors for 2008. I offer this technology to the Average Joe.

The next great Canadian idea: Revived batteries
From the July 21, 2008 issue of Canadian Business magazine
Rob Matthies white 1982 GMC pickup truck isnt anything special at first glance. But the words Electric Powered Vehicle printed on its tailgate may tip you off that something is up. The full extent of the trucks oddness is apparent only when you peek under the hood. Thirty batteries — different sizes, voltages and brands — connected by a tangle of cables keep the vehicle running. Whats more, all of the batteries were previously dead or discarded. Most people who own electric vehicles look at the battery box and cant believe it works, because its like a dogs breakfast, Matthies says.
The Vancouver resident says hes found a way to re-juice dead batteries, and the truck is proof of the methods success. Matthies says hes replaced only one of the trucks batteries in more than a year. Depending on the type, a batterys life can be extended by four to six times.
The 56-year-old alternative-school instructor admits he has less of a commercial bent than other inventors, and hes reluctant to disclose exactly how the process works, but hes willing to teach anyone whos curious — for $. Anyone can do it, he says. Well, almost. If youre not the kind of person who has patience and precision, he says, you will probably not be happy to do it.

The SolarTaxi is great design. However, you won't be able to buy its batteries at Canadian Tire shops just yet --- they are some kind of sodium in a ceramic-nickle matrix.
The per-mile (or per-kilometer) cost of SolarTaxi has not been disclosed, to my knowledge. That cost would depend on the battery replacement cost, not the free sunlight.
SolarTaxi and "FreeB", the "free battery" (revived battery) electric pickup truck met at the North Vancouver Canada Day celebrations.
FreeB works on dead or discarded batteries. The replacement cost of FreeB's batteries are zero, except for labor costs.
The Revived Battery process was chosen by Canadian Business magazine as one of the three "most intriguing inventions" for 2008.
Information about FreeB:
Unfortunately, you cannot buy either SolarTaxi nor FreeB from you car dealer. If you want vehicles like these two, you'll have to make them yourself!
