using a 5 inch piece of bicycle tube just above the lanyard holes provided me with a rubbery firm grip. i used a mountain bike tube but i think that a ten speed tube might work better because that size of tube is smaller and therefore might make a tighter fit onto the handle of the trench hawk. along with a lanyard, this system for holding the trench hawk's handle is very secure. and doesnt widen the grip like using paracord wrapped around the handle would do. I also sharpened all of the edges on the head so that they penetrate and cut better.
