The Music Ashram, Dubai
At The Music Ashram, Dubai, the guru presiding is our own, the omnipresent loving, kind and merciful Shirdi Sai Baba.
It is his grace and blessing that we are under the tutelage of his prodigy and son our Shivasir.
In this ashram, there is no compromising in the love, passion and purity with which Hindustani Classical Music is imparted.
For us it is like everything else- an internal process rather than an external one. Therefore our platform is the heart, the soul and it is our life's mission, purpose and calling to spread this divine and rich tradition of Indian music.
Each student for us is a part of us, and forms a family that our Baba has brought together. Our interaction with each one goes beyond the music and yet emerges from it.
The promise of the teaching and the music is that when we sit with it—it gives back to us many folds. It takes us to a place within ourselves where we find the true meaning of life with clarity. It reflects the soul within us which is pure, loving and in the likeness of god. It fills us with hope, gratitude, strength and promise.
The Music Ashram trains students in Hindustani Classical Music in exclusive individual sessions where the teaching is old school-slow and methodical starting with voice culture, vocal training, and breath work. Slowly with the capacity of the individual gradual expansion and progression of the singing is done.
Therefore there is no compromising on technique, understanding and soulfulness of Hindustani classical Music.
We believe that not everyone who learns needs to become a performer.
The more people learn this music, the more the understanding and love for it will grow-thereby bringing more and more people into its fold.
In itself it brings inner peace and stillness.
By imparting this art we will not only contribute in bringing change & joy in lives- but also create a larger, learned audience base that will then in turn, nourish the artists-who need an audience to sustain the art.
The Voice of Shiva
Shiva has been in deep connection with Hindustani Khayal gayeki.
Born and brought up in Mumbai Shiva chose to follow his heart in Hindustani Classical singing.
He trained rigorously under his mother-,Sita Parasuram. He then was guided by Narayanrao Bodas(Gwalior Gharana), Pandit Ramchandra Dasakker and Madhubua Joshi(Jaipur Atroli Gharana).
Over the years Shiva has developed his own distinct style of singing. What is rather exceptional about Shiva is that with his flawless grounding in Classical Khayal gayeki--he is extremely hip and versatile with traditional sufiana gayeki and many other forms. He sings in nine different languages.
His voice strikes the very heart of a person-and his singing style is divinely soulful.
Shiva has dedicated his life to music and trains students in Hindustani Classical Music at The Music Ashram Dubai.
