• Money, celebrity, class, politics and the battle for our energy future on Nantucket Sound which is out off the coast of Cape Cod in the state of Massachusetts. I give this book five stars.
• Jim Gordon, who is in charge of Cape Wind over a decade ago, is still fighting to get his wind farm up which I think go up. All the approvals have been done. This book talks about the early years and why its such a battle.
• The reason why it's such a battle is that he is putting an industrial wind farm, at the closest to land is about 5 miles and it looks like an outstretched thumb on a clear day you could technically see the wind turbines. The problem is he's putting it where not wealthy people live or have second homes but extremely wealthy people.
• People on top of the energy industry, the finance industry, people who are very politically well connected. So for the first countries off shore wind farm to go there, that's why he ran into a huge fight. But in the end, through a little bit of luck, and a lot of hurdles, Jim Gordon was able to get the approvals needed for Cape Wind.
• So this book really goes into detail showing the tenacity of the whole project and Jim Gordon himself, what he went through, and hats off to him if he's able to pull it off. As an update, as of 2012, he does have about three quarters of the future wind production already guaranteed with purchase agreements from various power companies.
• So it looks like things are really going forward, it's going to create a few hundred jobs, the boat companies out in the cape will be giving boat tours and these types of things just like they do in Denmark so the tide is turning. Cape Wind, five stars, highly recommended.
