This is a 2 minute video showing how to uninstall applications in Mac OS X completely without the use of any third-party applications. You can use just Finder and its search feature to find all files for an application, if you need to uninstall it completely.
Normally it is sufficient enough to just put the application (in the Applications folder) into the Trash, but if one wants to have it gone completely, this is the way.

PS: Finder did find more files and folders than AppZapper, AppDelete and AppCleaner found, therefore it is not necessary to install these applications or even pay for them.

PPS: From Mac OS X 10.7 Lion on, you have to add even a search criterion for the file name, here is a small screenshot for that:
