The Kingston Trio performs an old folk blues number that first appeared in print in 1934 in a collection of folk songs by legendary collectors John A. and Alan Lomax. The KT version appeared on their 1963 album "Sunny Side!"; it was one of the last traditional folk songs that the group recorded as their repertoire moved steadily toward singer-songwriter compositions. "Rider" was also performed by many other major artists, including Joan Baez, The Grateful Dead, and The Seldom Scene.
