Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney told a small group of wealthy contributors what he truly thinks of all the voters who support President Barack Obama. He dismissed these Americans as freeloaders who pay no taxes, who don't assume responsibility for their lives, and who think government should take care of them.

The sad thing is he's right. Oh well, even after the past 2 years there are probably still people who would vote for Barry again if they could

"47% of Americans pay no income tax", in other words, "not a single Democrat pays income tax". And you wonder why you lost?

4 years later, Hillary Clinton strikes with a 10 times more hateful comment.

Firestar493 As much as I hate him (he rigged the Republican primary), Romney wasn't really wrong here, in fact, he was quite right. His mix-up of the # of non taxpayers and those who always will oppose him is a bit odd. He probably didn't mean it in that context.
Except no, because the difference is that Romney's claim is completely incorrect. The majority of people on welfare and social programs have jobs but simply lack a living wage (as today's minimum wage is not considered a living wage). However, polls show that Hillary's statements were rather true. 60% of Trump supporters believe Obama is a Muslim. 60% of Trump supporters believe Obama was not born in the U.S. 31% support a ban on gay people entering the country. 87% support a ban on all Muslims. 40% believe blacks are lazier than whites. And her quote is often taken without its full context, in which she acknowledges that the other half of his supporters are genuine victims of economic strife. While I despise Hillary Clinton (and Trump for that matter), her statement was surprisingly nuanced coming from her, and the polls back it up.

What he is saying is the TRUTH.  For the first time in history, there are more people not working than working.  An upside down system like this will buckle under its own weight.
Mobutu Obama
jup, all those rich assholes aren't working.

+Kelly Marie Ummm, this statement is 100% false. In fact, it's so wrong, I'm not even sure why you even bothered to say it at all
I didn't follow the election and have no stance on politics. Can someone explain to me why this was controversial and wrong? To me this sounds like him just talking about strategy and his ideology which doesn't seem wrong to do.
+shwinky789 He would , if elected, be supposed to be representing the WHOLE of the American people not simply those who voted for him. With this statement he is writing off 47% of America as shiftless losers and that he doesn't give a shit about them. Hardly the kind of guy a country could unite behind.
Even if he was right and 47% wouldn't vote for him on that silly reason, that leaves 53% who potentially still would, meaning if he was truly sincere in his policies he could still win.  This is where he showed his true intentions.  Ron Paul's delegates had the majority of republican primary votes in 5 states or 10% of the country, of which the republican's basically through out to get romney nominated.  This is ANOTHER 10% ON TOP OF THE 47% who would now not vote for the one who took away their votes and betrayed them.  That now brings it to 57% who wouldn't vote for him and by the Republicans and Romney's own fault it was now mathematically impossible for him to get elected, where it would have still been possible if they had just listened to Ron Paul's delegates.

he is right

Xiao Sun Ummm... no. No he's not. I don't really feel like using this response to educate you (or anyone else who believes this). It may be beneficial for you to research the actual statistics Romney is "quoting".

I'd like to take the time to thank the person who filmed and leaked this video. This leaked video was the condom of Romney's chance of ever being president.
Military spending is tied with Social Security at $600 billion as the biggest expenditure. I don't see republicans jumping to cut even a dime of that, something that should be so easy to cut as it doesn't affect American citizens.

jcrowley1985 I love you for writing this, we still have active military bases in countries from WWII. Why is that? I've heard my veteran teacher talk about how military base have game consoles and a bunch of video games. On top of that, the government spends Trillions building special planes that end up never being able to fly. I don't know why the military get as much scrutiny as it deserves. Our military is just America's huge cock that we have to wave around and show everyone.
