Beach Music Legends The Embers Headline Menokin Music Festival on May 9, 2009

May 1, 2009

Warsaw, Va. Dance the afternoon and night away on Saturday, May 9 from 2:00 to 7:00 pm at the Menokin Music Festival! The Festival features beach music legends, THE EMBERS! Old School out of King George County will provide rock and roll classics and Blades of Bluegrass will continue the bluegrass tradition. The Festival is held on the grounds of historic Menokin at 4037 Menokin Rd. , 4 miles north of Warsaw.

The Embers have survived disco, punk, new wave, and hip-hop, and continue to take the stage as one of Americas most entertaining bands. They have been inducted into the South Carolina Rhythm & Blues Hall of Fame and were named North Carolina's Official Musical Ambassadors. The Embers opened for the Rolling Stones, did commercials for Budweiser, played the Olympics, and created the soundtrack for endless summers.

The Embers will share the bill with Old School, a local group of old friends and experienced musicians that bring rock & roll classics to venues across the Northern Neck, and Blades of Bluegrass who bring traditional toe-tapping bluegrass to stages across eastern Virginia.

In addition to great music, enjoy food and craft vendors, sodas and smoothies,
golden beverages for those over 21, tours of Menokin and hiking trails to Cat Point Creek. BoomTown Hoops, a festival vendor, will give hula hoop lessons and demonstrations throughout the day, and Northern Neck museums will offer childrens games and crafts.

The Menokin Music Festival is an all-day, family-friendly event that benefits the Menokin Foundation. The Foundations mission is to preserve and interpret Menokin, the home of Francis Lightfoot Lee a patriot and signer of the Declaration of Independence.
