There are a lot of benefits to IV sedation. The typical IV sedation dentistry patient that I see hasn't been to the dentist in 10 to 15 years and the reason they haven't come is they're so traumatized by their early childhood dental experience that no matter what happens, unless they are in dire pain, they are not coming to the dentist. I have a lot of patients that come to me as an IV sedation dentist; it's not something the average dentist does. Especially in the state of New Jersey as you need to be specifically trained for IV; you cannot put someone to sleep with just pills if you're not IV trained in New Jersey.
There are a few of us that are trained properly to do IV sedation dentistry. The benefits to the patient are endless. You can come in and have all of your teeth fixed at one time. You're going to come in, you're going to be put to sleep and you're not going to remember anything about the procedure, so if you're someone who is really scared of the dentist and you are putting off your dental work because you don't think that there is an answer for you, IV sedation will completely change your mind. You can come in and have all of your work done completely comfortable and pain-free and you'll wake up with your smile completely changed.
