The following video shows two of the nine US airstrikes carried out on Saturday 18 August 2014 against Islamic State targets near Mosul.
The first airstrike hits a pickup truck with a heavy weapon system mounted on the back. The second airstrike destroys an armored personnel carrier.

Kurdish Peshmerga, Iraqi Security Forces, and US Special Operations troops battled the Islamic State for control of the Mosul Dam. The dam is the largest in Iraq and is of importance as it is one of the main water collection points in the region. Fears have also risen that the Islamic State could sabotage the structural integrity of the dam, sending a deadly wave down the Tigris River towards Mosul. Those fears are substantiated because earlier in the year ISIS did just that with the Fallujah dam, resulting in the flooding of several villages.

Reports indicate that US airstrikes and skirmishes with government forces have sent IS militants fleeing from the surrounding areas, and the dam is now back under control by Kurdish Forces.
