Following is a special message for parents: Does your child struggle with schoolwork? Have a short attention span when reading? Have poor reading comprehension? Are you overwhelmed with homework? If you answered yes to any of these questions, this message is for you. Academic success requires 17 different visual skills and seeing 20/20 is just one of them. Vision Screenings can be misleading because they are not designed to test ALL of these visual skills. Vision screenings test how well your child sees 20 feet away, but not how well they can see when reading a book or writing. When a child struggles with reading, an eye coordination problem could be the cause. If your child has passed a vision screening, don't assume that all is well.
