NYU's "2031 Plan" seeks to build massive, mid-town size towers (some towers over 200 feet in height) in historic Greenwich Village, New York. NYU's 2031 plan calls for 20 solid years of construction in Greenwich Village between Houston Street and 3rd Street, from Mercer Street to LaGuardia. NYU's 2031 plan calls for the destruction of playgrounds, gardens, old growth trees, and parks and the rezoning of residential blocks to allow commercial/retail into NYU owned buildings.
Tell NYU to STOP their destruction of Greenwich Village! NYU has been invited to develop in the Bronx (where they previously maintained a campus until 1973) as well as in the Financial District of New York City. Despite this, and despite strong opposition from residents and merchants in the Greenwich Village community as well as their own faculty members, NYU is seeking approval of their "2031 Plan"
Tell NYU to reduce their massive plan and preserve the historic character of Greenwich Village!
Tell New York City Council members to VOTE NO on the NYU 2031 Plan!
