Motorcycle enthusiast crafts a machine that looks like a crocodile on wheels.

Full story:
In Punjab, a northern region of India, a motorcycle enthusiast and mechanic has crafted a machine that looks like a crocodile on wheels.

Pradeep Kumar Mehta has designing a motorcycle that not only looks like a crocodile, but can also seat up to 10 people.

It took him nearly nine months to finish, and cost less than 1,000 US dollars, using an old motorcycle and then working on the look and embellishments.

[Pradeep Kumar Mehta, Bike Designer]: (Hindi, Male)
"I bought the motorcycle for US $56.6, a year and a half ago. The customization cost me less than $1,000 dollars. It has taken me more than eight months to design this motorcycle."

Nearly 13 feet long, the motorcycle is four and a half feet wide and weights nearly 500 pounds.

Its crocodile shaped 'mouth' houses twin headlamps, and the carbon fibre design features doors for the rider and passengers to get to their seats.

Mehta said that he was motivated by the desire to have a motorcycle that would be sufficient to carry his family and friends on their outings together.

In a country where a vehicle's fuel efficiency is oten the first consideration, Mehta's motorcycle is a frugal one.

[Pradeep Kumar Mehta, Bike Designer]
"I believe that a motorcycle should be sufficient to take us anywhere we want, whether it is on a holiday or to a fair, without any problems. The bike gives nearly 6miles per gallon, runs to a top speed of 30 miles per hour, and can seat 10 people."

Neighbors and passersby gather round the bike as Mehta prepares to give his friends a ride, enjoying the spectacle of the crocodile's 'mouth' opening.
