One of the safety tests we ran before turning off an old 4 T MRI magnet, except this one didn't quite go as expected. My old cellphone - also surplus to requirements when I got a new one - was put up for sacrifice. I had expected the battery to be quite magnetic, but I'd also expected the high magnetic field to trash the phone's electronics. Yeah... not so much. The phone turned out to be quite a hardy little thing.

PS I still don't recommend you walk into an MRI suite with your phone!!!!

If that was the old Nokia 3310 the MRI would have broken.

They should have put the cellphone in while the call was going, just to see what happens.
