As part of the President Nestor Kirchner (PNK) Fellowship program, the Observatory on Latin America’s (http://observatorylatinamerica.org/), part of The New School (http://www.newschool.edu) will host two Fellows from Latin America, Daniela Gomes Metello (Brazil) and Beatriz Pilar Córdova Aquino (Peru).

Daniela Gomes Matello has a BA in Food Engineering, and a Masters in Production Engineering. She is the Advisor and Coordinator of Comité Interministerial para la Inclusión Social y Económica de Recolectores de Materiales Reciclables. While in New York, Ms. Matello will work on research related to her winning Fellowship essay, Sustainable Development: The experience of solid waste management and the socioeconomic inclusion of waste pickers in Brazil.

Beatriz Pilar Córdova Aquino has a BA in Politics and a Masters in Governance and Electoral Processes. She is in charge of monitoring the planned activities for the 2014 regional and local elections in the Centro de Operaciones de Proceso Electoral (COPE) del Jurado Nacional de Elecciones del Perú. While in New York, Ms. Córdova will work on research related to her winning Fellowship essay, Gender quota and women positions in lists in Peruvian municipal elections.
