This is one of the 2 red squirrels which I have been hand rearing since they were 2 weeks old.

Their drey was pulled out of a tree in a garden in Northumberland by a predator and they were found lying on the ground - no sign of their mother.

They now run amok and cause mayhem. This was one morning in the utility room, when he found a small piece of fur fabric which I used to use put in their bed when they were tiny and decided he was going to utilise this to build a nest in my peg bag. After admitting failure, he decided to put it in their nest box!!

Soon they will be leaving me to go to a red squirrel site and be kept in an enclosure to over-winter and then have a "soft release" next spring.
