As I upload this video, a bottle of Hershey Syrup is $2.49 were I live, and it's loaded with ingredients I don't want in my family's diet. It's so easy to make chocolate syrup from scratch...less than 10 minutes! If you're a prepper, you should already have all the ingredients in your long term food storage: salt, sugar, vanilla, and cocoa powder. You're going to love the simplicity of this recipe.

CHOCOLATE SYRUP
1 1/2 cup sugar
1 cup cocoa
dash salt
1 1/2 cups water
1 teaspoon vanilla

Stir dry ingredients together in a pot. Slowly add water, while stirring with a whisk. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Boil hard for one minute. Remove from heat. Add vanilla and stir. Cool slightly then pour into storage container. Keep refrigerated. Enjoy!
