Former Rogers Scholar Amy Puerto, now a student at Bellarmine University in Louisville, Ky., presented U.S. Congressman Harold Hal Rogers (KY-05) with a gold star award and commemorative certificate as one of the first recipients of a Youth Programs Star Celebrity award. Also present for the presentation were Lonnie Lawson, president and CEO of The Center for Rural Development, and Jessica Melton, associate director of education and training. The Centers three youth programs recently recognized individuals who have made a significant contribution to the youth of Southern and Eastern Kentucky. Also receiving Youth Programs Star Celebrity honors were Lonnie Lawson, president and CEO of The Center; Allen Anderson, CEO of South Kentucky RECC; and Kenny Davis, 1972 Olympic basketball athlete and motivational speaker.
