With a shock to many, Haley was eliminated. For her swan song she reprised her popular "Bennie and the Jets" performance from Elton John week (Top 11 part 2 - Mar 30). When she steped down to the judges table, Haley changed the lyrics to "Say, Randy & J.Lo have you seen them yet?..."

The song was composed by Elton John and Bernie Taupin, and first appeared on the Goodbye Yellow Brick Road album in 1973. "Bennie and the Jets" has been one of John's most popular songs. Elton John was set against releasing "Bennie and the Jets" on side one of the Goodbye Yellow Brick Road album, and was against releasing it as a single, believing it would fail. The song peaked at #1 on the US singles charts in 1974. It was also John's first Top 40 hit on the R&B charts, going to #1 there as well.

Axl Rose, of Guns N' Roses, has stated it was listening to "Bennie and the Jets" that inspired him to become a singer. He would later perform alongside Elton John at the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert.
