Last week, Zoo York's "Black" Dave Willis announced via Instagram that he would no longer be making rap music. This was quite a surprise to fans that have been faithful to Black Dave's music through several mixtapes and a performance at South by Southwest in 2014. Our post prompted Dave to reach out via text message in order to explain that he was not actually retiring from music—and that he had a special surprise in store for fans in the coming weeks. Obviously curious, we met up with Dave at Max Fish in the Lower East Side to get the lowdown on where he is going musically. Check out the interview and Dave's new single, "Squad," under the Black Punk alias. A full album will be releasing soon.
