3 more points -- 1 - happiness is an activity, it's the process, not the goal that makes you happy, it's maintaining a certain level of virtuous activity. 2 - The easy road is usually not the virtuous one. 3 - There are psychological barriers to reason, for example, cognitive dissonance makes us afraid to be wrong b/c we tell ourselves that we are good people and good people are not ignorant, so when we ARE ignorant there is a dissonance between the two beliefs, and the possibility of being ignorant: I am a good person, good people are not ignorant, but I might be ignorant. Better then to pretend to hold on to my beliefs, even if they're shadows!
