Interesting experiment from research on non-contact parallel manipulation with microscopic objects: 50-micron polystyrene micro-spheres dispersed in deionized water are self-organized to a form of regular chains. The key phenomenon that set the beads in motion is dielectrophoresis. Detecting and tracking of moving spheres are done by image processing.
