Part 3:

Condoleezza Rice, the US Secretary of State, visited Auckland this weekend.

Displaying the typical student's level of enthusiasm and forethought, the Auckland University Student Association offered a $5000 reward to anyone who would do a citizen's arrest on Condoleezza Rice, for alleged war crimes. At the advice of police, they then withdrew it "...so as to avoid being caught up in something much bigger than they may have anticipated".

Even so, some of the protesters came with handcuffs, apparently prepared to carry it out, and ignored police requests to keep behind the barriers and away from the hotel.

One fellow in particular was really asking for it, right from the start. He was the one burning the flag, disassembling the barriers, and shouting in the cops faces, and he was finally arrested when he pushed his luck a little too far...

I'm glad I live in a country where citizens can freely express their views and concerns. Its just sad that some protesters (the loudest ones, unfortunately) insist on giving the rest a bad reputation by behaving in a manner that completely destroys their credibility...
