Today we are going to install a waterproof LED trailer light kit from Optronics, part number TLL16RK. These lights are also oversize. So, if your trailer is over 80 inches wide, they will still meet DOT specs. The first thing we are going to do is take off our nuts on the back side of the mounting studs. We will just loosen them up and take them off by hand. We will remove our ground wire off of our mounting stud and take our old license plate bracket off. We can pull these studs out of the way just so we do not lose them. And then we will clip the old wires as close as we can to the light so we have plenty of excess when we wire in the new ones. Again, if you find your wiring is in bad shape, you can use the included wiring that comes with the Optronics kit. But, our wires are pretty good so we are going to reuse them so we do not have to fish wire through the trailer frame again. We are going to strip about 1/4 of an inch to about 1/2 of an inch of insulation off the end of our wire. We will do that for both the brown and the yellow. 1:01
