Part One -- Online Classes: How does it work?

Title Slide
Part one: Online classes: How do they work?
Presented by: Distance Learning Department
Middlesex Community College
Middletown, CT

Slide 1
Middlesex Community College offers classes that are fully online. You are not obligated to come to campus to complete class work.

Courses are available 24x7. Log on anytime from any computer with an Internet connection.

Slide 2
Online classes cover the same material as on-ground classes. You learn and study on your own without the presence of a professor. You need to be self-motivated and self-disciplined to learn content and complete work on time.

Slide 3
Our online courses are not self-paced. This means that you cannot speed through the class or submit all your work at the last minute. For example, if you are taking a 16-week class, it will take you 16 weeks to complete the class.

Slide 4
Each week, you will be given readings and class work due by a certain day. Class work may include discussions, assignments, projects, and assessments. Due dates are indicated either in the syllabus, the section outline or the class Calendar.

You can log in any time day or night, but you will need to complete all assigned work by the instructor's deadlines.
