This is one of my favorite songs from "Hairspray" (the 2007 musical movie). I couldn't find a version on YouTube that had subtitles/lyrics, so I added them myself.

Tracy's character was truly amazing. She didn't just claim to like black people and enjoy black culture but stand on the side when she witnessed the issues that black people face, she actively participated in trying to help them overcome these problems and for society to accept colored people just as they accept whites, even though it meant trouble for her. this is what needs to happen today; white people who claim to be against racism should be active in trying to help put an end to the prejudice and trials colored people face instead of just saying "it happened in the past, get over it". take note America.

And she also was a role model for young curvy girls that they don't have to lose weight to be happy, because Tracy isn't supporting a bad lifestyle she's just heavier and she's happy at the end with her weight.

LovelyKelly645 True. Tracy also understood what it was like to be discriminated against. The movie implied that she was an outsider because of her weight within her own ethnicity.
