The Cardioid Project is a collaboration by Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and IBM. They're using one of the most powerful computers in the world to model and simulate the electro-mechanical functioning of the heart. Their goal is to help medical researchers learn more about the heart so they can develop better drugs and devices for treating heart disease.
