Historical archive film footage from the NASA Dryden Flight Research Facility. Part 1 shows:
1940's experimental aircraft including the Northrop YB-49 flying wing.
X-series research aircraft on the ground and in flight, including scenes of Chuck Yeager's record breaking X-1 flight and the X-15 space plane.
Parasail & lifting body experiments.

Effective March 1, 2014, the Dryden Flight Research Center (DFRC) was renamed the Neil A. Armstrong Flight Research Center in honor of Astronaut Neil Armstrong, the first human being to walk on the surface of the moon.
