The year 2029. A year which could be very important for humanity. The asteroid "Apophis" will come dangerous close to earth and possibly even collide. This clip shows a potential scenario...but of course only in fantasy! :)

No. This clip doesn't show the impact of Apophis, since the asteroid is much smaller in reality and will impact with a probability of less then 1%. So don't worry!

This clip was made for a competition and the goal was to detroy the earth somehow since the topic was "Earth goes boom".

I have to admit it was funny to work once with such destructive fantasy... :)

Music from Theme "The Mummy Returns" and "The Fifth Element".
Software used: Lightwave & Vegas
Production time: ~2 months.

So don't worry!

Produktionszeit: ~2 Monate.
Musik von den Spielfilmen "The Mummy Returns" and "The Fifth Element".
Software: Lightwave & Vegas

an asteroid that size wouldn't cause that much damage. That's more like what a 50km asteroid would do. Apophis, if it were to strike Earth (current chance is 0%), would leave behind quite a crater and cause major localized destruction within a 100-200km radius, but it certainly wouldn't engulf the entire Earth in a firestorm. It's only ~350 meters wide. If anything, it would cause the global temperature to drop 2-3 degrees C for a year or two.

It wil destory everything the pacific rim if it hits in 2036 not an extinction event but millions upon millions of deaths
Hinezy_55
It's supposed to only land in the pacific and ruin only the rich d bags who live on LA's shore anyways (hoping it kills LA kings)

Cool video and effects, but it wont happen like that. In all reality Apophis is under a quarter of a mile wide and if it hits the Earth, at the very most, it will release about 750 megatons of energy. That's a pretty big punch, and yes, alot of people will die, but the world wont end and I highly doubt it even triggers any kind of impact winter. So that's the good news. This vid looks like what the Chicxulub impact would have probably looked like. Actually this vid looks like it was worst than that because it appears that all life died out in this video. At least with Chicxulub there were survivors to continue the evolutionary transition.

750 megatons are you crazy? The Tsar Bomba with 50 megatons caused a total destruction radius of 30km but there were several damages in a 100 km radius with third degree burnings so 750 megatons is juste insanely massive (like if we juste multiply things there could be a 450 km radius where everything is completely destroyed and a radius of 1.500 km where everyone will die and i don't know if that's how you calculate an equivalent between power and those radiuses but i think it could be) An asteroid that size would cause something every smaller than Hiroshima
Lolistatrolista
Exactly thats 0,013 megatons (NASA)

Danny Boy. The large dinosaur killing asteroid caused 300 ft tsunamis. And that one only hit shallow water,it would be likely for over 1000 ft tsunamis 🌊 if it hit deep water. Less fire more water, shit....
Danny Boy
No it can't. Best guess is that this can destroy 1000 miles in every direction if it hit land. Hitting the water will probably do some serious tsunami action though.

A tiny meteor wouldn't do even remotely as much damage as this. If a meteor would actually do this, we would have all died a LONG time back.
