Merlin Media's spell continues to wear off of the radio landscape.
Last year, the 101.9 in New York was sold to CBS to become a simulcast of Sports 66 WFAN. Today, numerous radio trade outlets have reported that Randy Michaels' organization has sold its only station in Philadelphia--WWIQ-FM IQ 106.9 to the Educational Media Foundation. They are the peeps who syndicate the K-Love and Air1 radio networks to various radio stations. 106.9 will be an affiliate of K-Love, the question is when? There's already speculation that 106.9 will assume the K-Love affiliation after the new year. The language of the press release where the IQ News/Talk/Information format will continue for the next several months gives credence to this speculation.
Before 106.9 was a News/Talker, it also assumed a Christian format. Prior to the purchase, it was an affiliate of Harold Camping's Family Radio.
