Ab de Moolenaar started a rhythm-quartet in 1940 and named it "The Millers" after his own name. Their first concert was in June 1940. During the war Swingdance was forbidden by the Germans in Holland and other occupied countries, and the very few records wich were produced at that time were even not allowed to have English titels. Right after the war "The Millers" (The "Miller Sextet") could play again their swing dance music and started making records, while shellac of a good quality was still not available !
