the Hotel that is shown here is where my son worked putting on new shingles. this is done each year in sections. I was going to put up some photos in the video but forgot to do so :(( Banff National Park became Canada's first National Park in 1885
Some of the Douglas Fir trees in the Park are 700 years old.Others out side the park could be older.
The Gondola Ride
The eight minute gondola ride was an amazing experience and one of the best ways to see the Canadian Rockies. The views get more spectacular by the second as you climb 698m (2,292 ft) to an elevation of 2,281m (7,486 ft) at the Summit Upper Terminal
After reaching the top of Sulphur Mountain, the breathtaking 360 degree view was mesmerizing. we had a fantastic meal in the restaurant with an awesome view. After dinner, we went to the upper observation deck, which is the highest possible view of the mountains and Banff National Park where the majestic CASTLE is located. The Fairmont Banff Springs hotel built in 1888 is styled after a Scottish Castle. It is also a National Historical site.
The trail we are referring to, is an unrelenting climb of 5.5 km (3.4 mi) one way, and takes approx. 2 to 3 hours of climbing one way to an elevation of 700 m (2,300 ft) . Some of our conversations get a bit personal but oh well it might provide some extra entertainment. LOL... © 2011 - Dianne Campbell. All rights reserved
