Greensboro, North Carolina's historic AM radio station suddenly signs off for good after sixty years and three months of service to Guilford County and vicinity. The closedown occurred only a minute or so before WFMY-TV News 2 at 6 took to the air with the story as its lead. Long-time WBIG personality, Lloyd Gordon, then retired, did the final sign-off announcement via tape recording, for he didn't really feel up to doing it live. Of the station's personalities featured in the story, Dusty Dunn continued working in radio in Greensboro, doing a weekday-morning talk show on WGOS-AM 1070 before retiring from radio a few years ago.
