On January 19, 2013, the East Coast Chapter of the Tuskegee Airmen, under the leadership of Lt. Colonel Trent Dudley (USAF, Ret.) hosted American Glory! A Tribute to the Tuskegee Airmen. That event, in honor of President Barack Obama's Second Inauguration was accomplished in collaboration with the Smithsonian's National Museum of African Art, under its Director Dr. Johnnetta Cole. The Tuskegee Airmen's heroism in World War II triggered the desegregation of the US Armed Forces and heralded the birth of the modern civil rights movement. That movement in turn led to the ascension of President Barack Obama.
