Tegan has this to say about Call It Off and love songs: "When I wrote this song I felt pretty unoriginal because everybody writes love songs and everybody feels like their love's the most important and when their love ends and they get their heart broken, that nobody understands. And that's ridiculous. But so am I."

She also tells the story about how and why she wrote the song, which is apparently about her addiction to MySpace. She also shares a very humorous anecdote about German interviews and what happened to Matt Sharp from the Rentals in Germany.

Tegan Quin singing solo (for what she says is only the second time in her life) at the JUNO Singer Songwriters Circle. She performs Call It Off from Tegan and Sara's latest album The Con. She's also quite sick and on medications. Performed during the second half of the JUNO Award's Songwriters' Circle on April 6th, 2008 in Jack Singer Concert Hall, Calgary, Alberta.

The event:
MCed by Jian Ghomeshi and hosted by Joel Plaskett. With performances in the first half by Jeremy Fisher, Serena Ryder, AlexCuba and Joel Plaskett. Performing in the second half were Tegan Quin, Bedouin Soundclash's Jay Malinowski, Corb Lund, and Joel Plaskett.

All seven musicians were 2008 JUNO nominees. They shared anecdotes and sometimes explained the stories behind a few of their hit songs. All performances were acoustic.

Organized by The Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS), presented by the Canadian Music Publishers Association (CMPA) and the Society of Composers, Authors and Music Publishers of Canada (SOCAN). Proceeds from Songwriters' Circle benefit CARAS' music education program, MusiCan.
