A property assessment is what the City estimates your property’s market value is on July 1st of the previous year. But that’s not the only date you need to look out for on the toy car loop-de-loop that is the property assessment and taxation calendar.
Assessments for the upcoming year are based on the estimated value of your property on July 1st of the previous year. But any changes to the physical condition of your property up to December 31st are considered in that value, which is why it is important to notify the City of any changes.
The new year starts, and in January property assessment notices are mailed. This gives you a chance to review your assessment and ask the city questions. This window closes early March.
In the last week of May, your tax notice is mailed to you. And June 30th is the deadline to pay your property taxes.
